The basic idea of artmoney is, that artists produce a hand-made currency at a fixed value that can be spend at regular shops.

The 7 rules
- any artist can issue valid artmoney
- artmoney must hold the measure (close to) 12x18 cm (4 3/4 x 7 inch) and clearly state the year of production, serial number, land, artist name, signature and the web address: www.artmoney.org
- artmoney must be original, hand made art. In case of photo, print, etc. it must be worked over by hand
- artmoney holds a steady value of Danish Kroner 200 (approx. 27 Euro or 34 US Dollars) until otherwise is announced. The value is set from the central office, and may be regulated with inflation
- artmoney can be used as a currency world wide at registered artmoney shops, registered artmoney artists or anywhere that acceptance is found
- the artmoney artist must accept artmoney as payment up to 50% towards the purchase of art directly from the artist. Artmoney shops are free to decide what % they will accept. Anyone who accepts artmoney are free to refuse accepting them, if they don’t like them
- artmoney is not to be exchanged back into regular money unless they are sold. Artmoney can not be sold for artmoney, unless an agreement to exchange artmoney is decided upon.
The 7 “game rules” for artmoney apply to all people involved in the artmoney exchange. In order to function well as a currency, all involved are encouraged to respect the rules of the game.
